Please contact the studio to reserve your weekly private lesson time: email@example.com or fill in the contact form. Tuition includes a full program of private and group lessons, and the opportunity to join a fantastic community of character:
Monthly group lessons have been a highlight for students and have now increased to weekly online at no additional charge, to maintain a fun community with peers. There are groups for kids, teens, and adults, as well as a WhatsApp group and period Zoom meetings for parents! It is really fun to play with others, and the range of additional skills developed in ensembles is extremely valuable.
Performance skills are transferable to many other areas of students' lives and it is marvellous watching the growth in confidence and competence.
This past year students performed for several non-profit agencies including Bereaved Families of Ontario Butterfly Release at Fairy Lake and Memory Tree of Light at Pickering College, Shine Through the Rain at the Cardinal Golf Club, and York Central Fire Services Staff Recognition in Aurora. Heart-Strings also continued its tradition of fundraising and donations for the Newmarket Food Pantry and other charities.
Heart-Strings also had several pot luck and pizza parties, as well as participating in a cross studio Jazz Fiddle Workshop with special guest instructor Andrew Dawydchuk! We were also honoured with Parent Talks by Wendy Seravalle-Smith, who studied with Dr. Suzuki in Japan, and Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer, Nena Lamarre.
All Heart-Strings students who participated won awards at the Newmarket Lions Music Festival and the South Simcoe Music Festival the past several year, and a Heart-Strings student was honoured with a scholarship at the Newmarket Festival of the Stars. This year the festivals went virtual for South Simcoe and the Provincials, and thebe a first-ever all Canada E-Festival! We are noe preparing for Canada Music Week in November, which will take place virtually across Canada.
Preparations are also underway for online Royal Conservatory Practical Examinations (optional) and the 2019-2020 year culminated with a Spring Recital, "Music Will Save the World" - for the first-time ever online, due to the COVID-19 closures. NOTHING CAN STOP THE MUSIC! Our Winter Recital will take place online on December 5, 2020.
